The theme for this year’s mission trip was “Heart to Heart.” Our mission beganon Saturday, July 30th, when children, youth and anyone interested hada hands-on opportunity to package 3000+ meals for the hungry at Cold Springs Methodist Church.
Then on Sunday, July 31st, we left our church parking lot following Sunday School as we reached out from the hearts of the members of St. John’s to the hearts of others, including the needy of inter-cities all the way to the hearts of people in Appalachia in KY and WV. We returned on Sunday night, August 7th, after feeding the hungry and homeless, and working with impoverished children and youth. Our summer mission trip also included a 2-day mystery trip for the Lambs & Lions and Youth. Not only did our participants experience life from several perspectives, they alsopartook in the culture and food of other places. Most importantly, they came home a changed person as their hearts were filled with the joy of helping and worshipping with others, and a strengthened faith from their many experiences.
